“Premise, Promise, & Purpose.” “A writer sits down with a purpose for the story he or she is telling. That purpose manifests through the book’s premise, its story, concept, or central argument,” Klein said. “We’ll look at these three concepts and learn how you can refine your purpose to make a premise with a promise for a wide number of readers.”

Cheryl Klein is editorial director at Lee & Low Books. Prior to her work at Lee & Low, Klein spent 16 years at Arthur A. Levine Books/Scholastic, where she published a wide array of acclaimed titles for children, teenagers, and discerning adults, and served as the continuity editor for the last two Harry Potter books. Klein is the author of The Magic Words and Second Sight. She can be found online at http://www.cherylklein.com/about/

Larger meeting space has been located. We will be meeting at the University Center and Student Life Pavilion in Forum C.  If you’ve been to our one-day conferences, or mini-retreat, or the Saturday brunch at the cafeteria after an Intensive, you know exactly where this is – on the upper floor in the same building as the cafeteria and bookstore on the other side of campus from where chapter meetings are normally held. Click on the address above to see a google map of the new location.

Please take the SECOND (east) entrance to the school, up the hill from the entrance we usually use. The address is 5998 Alacala Park. We should have plenty of signs pointing to the venue. If you get lost, you can call the university at 619-260-4600 and ask for directions from security.

NOTE: We will be in larger space and can accommodate everyone – please feel free to join us for the chapter meeting at the University Center and Student Life Pavilion in the Forum C.
